Dick Carelli joined The NCC's Board of Directors in 2003. A member of Grace United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg, MD, since 1982, he has served that congregation in numerous capacities from chair of its administrative board to coach of its softball team. He currently is one of Grace's two lay leaders.
Dick and his wife, Susan have been married for 35 years. They dote on their ten nieces and nephews, and 23 grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Susan is an alto in the church choir, and Dick is a robust singer unencumbered by pitch.
Mr. Carelli has worked for the Administrative Office of the United States Courts since 2000, as a senior public affairs specialist. He joined that office after a 32-year career as a professional journalist, 31 of them with The Associated Press. After AP stints in West Virginia, Ohio, and Florida, Dick was the AP's U.S. Supreme Court correspondent for 24 years. He holds a journalism degree from Ohio University and a law degree from George Washington University.
