When Hearts & Hands Worship

DESCRIPTION:
At each National Christian Choir concert there is a very special soloist who sings through visual interpretation. Our Visual Communicator, Mary Abernathy, utilizes her love of music and drama as well as fluency in sign language to visually interpret our music so that all may worship—whether they hear the musicians or worship visually. Visual interpretation adds a whole new dimension to the message of the songs and worship experience. As one recent concert attendee wrote,

"Mary has a special gift for communicating the meaning of the songs and the wonder of the music through her gestures. To watch her transform the beauty that we could hear into something that could be seen was mesmerizing. Her hands, her body, and her expression were fully employed in communicating the splendor of the songs, and drawing the deaf and hearing people alike to worship our God."
