ANSWERS

When and how did The National Christian Choir get started?
The NCC was founded by Dr. C. Harry Causey in 1984 with its first concert in Constitution Hall, Washington, DC.  250 singers were recruited through Christian radio and auditioned for participation.
How can I sing with the National Christian Choir?
Membership is by audition, and we try to make that process as easy as possible.  Auditions are held immediately following most of our concerts. There are also auditions by appointment twice each year in January and June.
Do I have to be able to read music?
Not necessarily, but it helps. Some singers learn the music by listening to practice CDs. We memorize our entire repertoire, and this is done between rehearsals.
Do I have to have perfect pitch?
No, not many people do. Mainly we look for those who can sing their part independently with a voice that blends. Above all, we are looking for singers who love the Lord Jesus Christ and are called to worship Him with excellence.
How often does the Choir rehearse?
The Choir rehearses from 7:15 – 9: 30pm almost every Monday night during the school year (excluding most of December and two weeks surrounding Easter.) There are also four or five summer rehearsals.
Where does the Choir rehearse?
The Choir rehearses at the First Baptist Church of Rockville in Rockville, MD (located at Exit 6 on I-270).
How many concerts does the Choir sing every year?
The Choir offers 10-12 concerts annually in the Washington area, makes at least one new recording every year, and usually makes one tour somewhere in America annually.
Where has the Choir toured?
Tours in America have taken The Choir to California where they were featured twice at the Crystal Cathedral on "The Hour of Power" with Robert Schuller, Colorado where they were the invited guests of James Dobson at the National Headquarters for Focus on the Family, and Florida where they participated on four occasions with Dr. R.C. Sproul’s Ligonier Ministries Conference and were also invited to sing at Disney World's EPCOT. They have also sung in Washington state, Alaska, Indiana, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. In 2004, they had the unique experience of being invited to sing aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship as they cruised to Alaska. In 2006, they were invited to sing for the opening worship service of the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Dallas, Texas. In 2008, they sang at Moody Church in Chicago.
Can I visit the Choir during rehearsal?

What additional ministry resources does the Choir have?
"What Is Worship?" is a teaching by Dr. C. Harry Causey on four CDs containing 32 lessons creatively produced, containing excerpts of music by The National Christian Choir just as heard on our weekly radio program, Psalm 95. The study is suitable for personal devotions, small group Bible studies, and Sunday School classes.

We also offer a companion book to one of our recordings – “The Heart of a Child.” The book, written by Elizabeth Causey, is designed to be read to young children to enhance their understanding of the messages contained on the recording.
What is “Psalm 95?”
"Psalm 95" is a 55-minute, weekly radio program, hosted by Director of Music and Ministries, Kathy Bowman. It features the music of The National Christian Choir, the Word of God, and inspirational commentary designed to draw the listener closer to our Lord.
