| Entry into the National Christian Choir is by audition. Scheduled auditions, by appointment, are held twice each year in December and May. New members may join The Choir in January and June. Additional opportunities to audition are given several times each season to those attending concerts. These special auditions, when announced, are held promptly following the concert.
Singers auditioning for The NCC are asked to sing a familiar hymn with a small group of other singers. The audition committee listens for good pitch, pleasant tone, and each singer's ability to blend musically with the others in the group. The committee also checks the voice range of each auditionee to determine exactly what voice part each person sings. Although singers are sometimes asked to "sight read" something unfamiliar during an audition, the ability to read music is not mandatory for acceptance - but certainly helpful to the singer. Audition results are private, and each auditionee receives a letter in the mail with the results.
